A Simple Guide to Feeding & Caring for Goats (+ meet our goats!)

Each morning on our one acre farm in the city of Phoenix, Arizona, we start the day with milking goats, feeding pigs, and gathering eggs. We have a small plot of land, but boy, do we make the most of it. Each animal on our farm is taken care of holistically & organically. We let the mama goats raise their babies until they reach 10 weeks of age and are naturally weaned from nursing. We keep a small herd of 5-7 milking goats, mainly the Nigerian Dwarf breed, although we still have the queen of the herd, Luna, our Nubian goat. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, cream, and we use it in all sorts of baking & cooking. We love that we can walk into our backyard and gather food. It's the best feeling ever!
After the morning chores, we usually tend to the pond -- we're always adding new pond plants and fish to maintain the delicate ecosystem of our natural swimming pool. Our backyard farm is full of adventures, and we're so happy to share our farm vlog with you. Hopefully you can feel inspired to grow something of your own, or care for an animal with kindness like we strive to do. Thanks for watching!

  • Hi I recently joined your channel for my love of goats and rapidly became very fond of your whole family and culinary skills as well as your farm operation. You have a very loving and admirable family. However here and there I saw thumbnail pictures of how you almost were proud of butchering animals. The final thumbnail that broke my heart was the one saying we have to butcher this mean duck. Ducks understand and are domesticated just like dogs. This was the thumbnail that made me unsubscribe to your channel. Animals are our friends, not our food. They know when they are being killed and it hurts them. The torture is transferred onto the ones killing and then eating that animal. I’m an animal lover and I can’t even eat fish. They too feel pain when killed. Honestly if you do a lot of research you will also come to see how eating even any type of dairy products is bad for humans. Dr. Robert Morse is a naturopath doctor in Florida. He was all about raw milk and grew up on a farm. Watch his videos on what that did to him and now he is a fruitarian slim with rosy cheeks. You raise amazing goats and very knowledgeable and talented. Raise Pygmy goats to sell. There’s lots of money in that. Get alpacas and you will fall in love with them and make money selling their fleece. You can sell your amazing chicken eggs for $1 a piece! You can be a consultant to so many who are making the move living off grid and starting a sustainable lifestyle. You have so much to offer. I showed segments of your clips to my husband and introduced you as the Martha Stewart of Arizona! I’m heartbroken to leave your channel because I’m afraid of seeing another animal butchering thumbnail. You can just mention a loss at the end of a video. Try to uplift with your thriving animals. Don’t talk of death and butchering. I will miss seeing Luna. She was my favorite💕 Be well.

  • Don't say "chemical" like it's some kind of arcane term for something dangerous and unnatural. The herbal medicines you use are chemicals just like anything else. Water is a chemical. Oxygen is a chemical. All food is various mixtures of chemicals. A chemical is just a scientific word for a substance. You can prefer "natural" remedies to ones produced by scientists if you like but don't spread ignorant misinformation about it.

  • It never fails to crack me up when you tell the goats to make friends or have a nice day when you let them out of the milking station, but the one that gets me the most is "remember who you are" -- hilarious!
